Inside The Final Dark Days

On January 6, 2021, we experienced one of the most horrendous act of terrorism the world could imagine. Trump supporters, conspiracy theorists, and neo-confederates descended upon Capitol Hill in an effort to intimidate congress. They broke windows, stormed the corridors, and had a standoff with armed forces. Despite an effort to overturn a democratically elected president, Trump and his mercenaries failed. Joe Biden’s win was certified by members of Congress. To some, this would be known as “Stop the Steal”. To others, this would be the beginning of a violent insurgency, a coup d’etat.

What Trump said before the Riot — CNN

Why did these individuals storm Capitol Hill? Because Trump told them to “go on down to the Capitol. Show strength instead of weakness”. Trump fed them confirmed lies that the election was stolen from him. His disinformation campaign far preceded the riot on Capitol Hill. Trump, throughout November, has tried to put forth lawsuits to the courts. Trump even intimidated the Georgia Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger. Trump had a total of nine election fraud conspiracies which all turned out to be untrue. The public knew this because it was well documented, but his loyalists didn’t believe the truth.

This leads us to the final moments of the Trump presidency. Moments where President Trump has been suspended across multiple social media platforms due to encouraging violence. Moments where it is alleged that Republican party officials took part in staging the riot at Capitol Hill. These moments lead to anger from Trump and his supporters, but the actions presented are necessary to protect the public from the violent insurgency. One could officially argue that President Trump has been metaphorically castrated
